The Promoters established the NET Communications Team to ensure everybody
directly affected by work were aware of when and where it was happening,
what it involved and how to avoid it.
The wider public was also kept well informed about construction activity,
as well as the benefits NET would bring once up and running.
The Communications Team used a wide variety of ways to get the message
across:
- Tram Hotline dealing direct with issues raised by
the public
- Hundreds of thousands of leaflets delivered to
properties directly affected by works
- Hundreds of thousands of newsletters distributed
regularly to wider audiences and some targeted audiences, eg students
- Liaison with the contractor's Construction Information
Officer, dealing directly with the public
- Website established and constantly updated with
ongoing construction news and other information, plus an email contact
point
- Stories and construction information in the local
media, including radio Nottingham Travelwise bulletins
- Public meetings, exhibitions and presentations
- Advertising and event sponsorship
- Special events such as a tram replica in the Old
Market Square - and the tram launch itself
- Special publications such as a CD-ROM for
teachers to use with schoolchildren.
