Residents' Parking in predominantly student areas.

As someone who lives in a residents’ parking zone you must find it frustrating when you find non-permit holders using parking bays meant for you and your visitors or when thoughtlessly or illegally parked vehicles cause an obstruction or a safety hazard.

From October 1st Nottingham City Council will be taking over the enforcement of a range of parking rules. We are doubling the size of our team of Parking Attendants who will now be able to issue tickets (£60 Penalty Charge Notices) to illegally parked vehicles, including any in residents’ parking bays without a permit.

We are confident that this change will mean you find it easier to find a parking space near your home. Of course the changes do mean that you will need to display your permit if you want to be sure to avoid a fine. If for any reason you don’t have a current permit then now is the time to apply for one. If you would like an application form please telephone 915 1909. Because of the high number of students living in your area we will not be issuing tickets before November 1st, but don’t delay, apply today.

We all want a well managed city where traffic flows freely, buses run to time and pedestrians are safe. Tackling illegal parking, along with all the other transport improvements we are making, will help to bring this about.

We do hope that you see the benefits of these changes from October 1st. If you would like any more information about Get Street Wise please don’t hesitate email us at get street wise or call us on 0115 915 6592.
